PDC LESSON 2.35 DESIGN - BROAD BEDS
These are more suitable for longer-ripening plants such as corn, melon, onions, or garlic, etc.
It is crucial how you lay out your garden or field. Normally, an underground irrigation system is laid every meter and planted to the right and left of the water pipe at 30 - 40 cm. This applies to potatoes, corn, sweet potatoes, beans, and even tomatoes.
However, if you want to till the field with a cultivator, or rather a two-wheel tractor with a cultivator, on the one hand to make furrows and on the other hand to remove weeds up to 5 centimetres deep between the plants, then you must respect this when you are planting the field.
A wide bed should have an average width of 160 centimetres and thus contain 2 lines.
It is very easy to
work the field by hand from both sides 90 cm.
These machines or
two-wheel tractors are available with a working width of 30, 60, 70 or 80
centimetres. Depending on what kind of machine you want to use, you have to
place the planting and the water pipe at the necessary distance.
