PDC LESSON 2.43 DESIGN –
SHADE CLOTH GARDEN, GREENHOUSE
This type of garden has the advantage that heavy rainfall is stopped, and excessive solar radiation is also weakened. It is also called a greenhouse. Many greenhouses are simply covered with plastic sheeting. These plastic sheets have the disadvantage that they are not or cannot be ventilated as well. In addition, plastic should be avoided in the permaculture garden as much as possible. Depending on the area and strong sun radiation, the shade nets can be bought in different qualities from 50 - 80% sun reduction.
It should be a
climate around 20 t0 25 degree, (by lettuce and kale or cabbage around 16 to 18
° when there outside its 35 ° it will be too hot under a plastic sheet when
there is no possibility to open a part of the roof for better wind circulation.
In any case, a
greenhouse needs underground irrigation in the ground to ensure even exact watering.
For many young
farmers, with small knowledge it is importance to attached to precise
irrigation during the growth phase.
The watering is
necessary differently in the growth phase from small young plants to the
fruit-bearing plant and, above all, very differently. That depends on the solar
radiation, but also on the intermittent rain, which also penetrates through
this shade net.
