LESSON 5.6 WATERING – BENEFIT OF DRIP
IRRIGATION
Drip
irrigation is the only sensible and most efficient irrigation method.
Especially in our times, when the water shortage is increasing, a low flow rate
is absolutely the right way. Water is rarely wasted by wind, evaporation,
runoff or overspray.
By
slowly dripping water into the soil at the base of plants, water is released at
a rate that's easy to absorb only where it's needed.
So
why also water the weeds on the paths and open spaces with sprinklers?
•
Drip irrigation also reduces the risk of erosion, soil compaction.
•
Uses flexible tubing that is easy to route and suitable for most environments.
•
Ideal for windy areas as the water goes directly to the roots of the plants
•
ideal for everything from hillside plants to vegetable gardens
•
suits all floor types
•
suits all types of plants
•
Reduces the risk of plant fungus and insect problems (since it only wets the
soil around the plant roots and not the leaves)
•
Therefore, causes less erosion and soil compaction
•
Can be used to apply liquid fertilizer to gardens
•
(You must use an anti-backflow device to ensure fertilizer does not return to
the drinking water supply)
•
Does not waste water on weeds along the paths but even on the surface between
plants when using SUBSURFACE DRIPLINES from our T-Tape system.
