PDC LESSON 7.1 COMPOST – NO CHEMICALLY GROWN FOOD

Chemically grown food

does not have these checks and balances in place. Herbicides and fungicides are used before planting the seed. This has the unfortunate effect of killing the living organisms in the soil. Fertilisers such as the basic N P K does not bring micro- minerals into the soil, and these could be sadly lacking. Plants will still grow and look good but it’s what goes on inside the plant that makes a difference. Protein levels in modern wheat are down by several percent and certain minerals such as selenium are inadequate in chemically farmed soils.

CSIRO tests have confirmed this with analyses and organic versus conventionally grown food have very different readings.

The life force in chemically farmed soil is not the same as good organically managed soil and eating food from such mineral deficient soil means that we short-change ourselves. Another noose around the neck of good health is all the refining and processing that goes on with our daily food. This takes its toll on the nutrients that might have been there to start with but got lost along the way.

Is this a form of abuse? I think so. Do we really think that we are nourished enough with the great variety of food we have? Surely, we must pick up what we need along the way? Not so according to many alternative health institutions and soil scientists.

Most people around the globe are mineral deficient!

This is an incredible statement.

What does it mean to us if we miss a few minerals? So what?
